Courvoisier has very old origins, dating back to the nineteenth century and its superior quality made sure that Napoleon was so amazed when he discovered it, in 1811, that since then it began to be called "the Cognac of Napoleon", a definition also shown on its label today. Courvoisier is the only one to have received the "Prestige de la France", that is the highest honour for excellence.
